Parking permit
The Parkpickerl (parking permit) allows you to park in short-term parking zones throughout Vienna for 4 to 24 months. You can apply online using ID Austria or in person at your district office (Magistratisches Bezirksamt) with your vehicle registration and photo ID.
How it works — step by step
- Verify you meet the basic requirements: your primary residence must be in a short-term parking zone, and you must own, lease, or have permission to use the vehicle privately for at least 4 months.
- Gather required documents: vehicle registration (Zulassungsschein), official photo ID, and any additional documents based on your situation (lease/rental contract, employer confirmation for company cars, disability pass, etc.).
- Choose your application method: online via ID Austria (lower fees), online without ID Austria, or in person at your district Magistratisches Bezirksamt.
- Submit your application with payment. Online applications allow you to upload scanned documents; in-person applications require originals or certified copies.
- Wait approximately one week for the decision to be issued by post. No physical sticker is issued—your permit is digital as of October 1, 2023.
- Pay the parking meter fee (13 Euro per month) for your chosen duration (minimum 4 months, maximum 2 years).
